Kinja'd!!!8 Kinja'd!!! 24

On July 25, 2014 I fulfilled a teenage dream and put a $1000 deposit down on a 2011 M3. Not just any M3, but my M3. It showed up at my apartment door 3 days later. If you want to read more about it, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Even after five years and 32k miles, I still love it.

Kinja'd!!!

To commemorate this anniversary , here’s some random pictures I’ve taken over the years.

It really is a handsome and muscular design and is aging very well. What's the average cost per year of owning one? I'd love to own one someday, however far off it may be.

You know it’s a great car when you still love it 5 years later.

Unlike the 3, I don’t actually know how much it’s cost me to own. It’s not my DD, so that helps keep some costs down. I would estimate with insurance I’ve spent over $70k paying it off and maintaining it.

Realistically, the E90 is to you what the E36 was to me. I really wanted an E36 M3 when I was in high school. When I had the means, they were too old and finding a good one was going to be a challenge. I didn’t look at E46s for this reason as well. One of the reasons I got the E90 was because I knew there was never going to be a time to get a single owner low mileage one. I considered a 1M, but my heart lusted after the E90. It’s good to have goals and dreams, and you can see I fulfilled one.

Aaaaand I just ran out of data.

But, as far as ways of wasting MB go, this is a good one.

Yeah, maybe I should have put a waring in the title.

Glad you enjoyed it. Realized I’ve taken a decent amount of photos of my car and figured it was a good time to share them.

Interesting. If I were to essentially make as much as you did from here till you bought your M3 then that means I'd probably come into an F80 or G80 M3.

I was 24 when I got my M3, and it was only three years old then. It helped that BMW released it the year I started college, so I spent many hours configuring mine. Ironically, Space Grey was never the color I configured mine in, it was always Alpine White. This is making me remember what it was like to be your age when you could really only dream about things like actually buying something like an M3. I think one of the main reasons I sought out and E92 328i was because I really wanted an E36 325is when I was in high school and the 328i is just a modern version of that.

When I graduated college, I assumed my first M car would be an E39 M5 ; I really lusted after one. Never thought I’d be able to afford an E90. Also, BAT didn’t exist as it does now. If it did, I’d probably bought an E39 M5 off of there.

I still love mine after 9 years. Occasionally I cheat and look at other cars or build one online...then I go for a spirited drive and that is all removed.

Ironically having two E9Xs has made me like it even more. It shows me how many little details M tweaked and since I’m only in it when I want to be in it. I do occasionally take it to work, but for the most time, I’m in it because I want to be in it, not because I have to be in it. The 3 will probably be replaced at some point, the M3 is here to stay.

Something something not a real BMW based on your parking etc. Lol but that’s awesome, I’ve only owned one of my cars more than 3 years (7 it was) but I really want the Cayman to feel like your M3 does!

I had my first car, 1997 Explorer Sport, for 9.5 years. The only car I’ve had short term was my 128i, and I sold that because I was unemployed.

The M3 puts a smile on my face every time I drive it, really still feels like the day I got it. I’m happy I have a car that does that for me.

I would suspect it’s going to go for right around 24k, being pretty well optioned and that sparkling graphite metallic was a 2008 only color.

The plan was to DD it, but that never panned out.

I stopped when I was on a mountain run to take that picture, I was quite pleased with the result.

I’m adding miles at a pretty slow pace presently, now that I’ve got my Tacoma. Need to drive it more often.
